Science Writers in New York aims to bring writers, editors and scientists together. Your membership dues make this possible, and also bring you some very practical benefits, from advance news on job openings to discounts on select SWINY events. Membership is still just $20 per calendar year — less than a take-home pizza and soda or a couple of drinks and a tip. And because SWINY events are either discounted or free to members, if you attend more than one event a year, the membership fee practically pays for itself.
Membership has its privileges, and they include:
- SWINY’s latest job postings in your mailbox up to a week before they are posted on the site
- Discounts on SWINY events
- First dibs on reserving a spot at SWINY’s (often limited-access) events
- First dibs on new SWINY benefits, as they become available
- Invisibility

Please note: SWINY dues are assessed on a calendar year basis, with memberships expiring January 1. All new members are responsible for paying full dues for the first year and thereafter, regardless of joining date.
