Interns will research, write, and sometimes edit blog posts, interviews, resources, and user-generated content. </p>
<p>Applicants should have excellent research and writing skills, be meticulous about grammar and spelling, feel comfortable interviewing scientists about their lives and work, and have some interest and background in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) subjects. Blogging experience or a major/degree in science is desirable but not required.</p>
<p>Interns will work approximately 5-7 hours per week, mostly remotely.<br />
Applicants based outside of New York are encouraged to apply but must demonstrate a strong work ethic.</p>
<p>Editorial internships are unpaid but credit may be arranged with your university.</p>

We are a small staff, so you’ll be a key member of the team. Interns pitch story ideas and write short articles for the magazine. They typically receive two or three bylines per issue. Other duties include working closely with editors on story research and special projects, proofing copy, helping to manage content on our website and blog network, and occasional light clerical work. </p>
<p>Some journalism experience and an interest in human behavior required. Background in psychology not mandatory, but a plus. Must be able to juggle several tasks at once and work autonomously. Anyone who can carefully read a complicated study and translate it into clear and engaging prose is especially encouraged to apply.   </p>
<p>Position runs January through May, 10-25 hours a week. Includes small daily stipend and reimbursement for commuting costs.</p>

•	Excellent oral and written communication skills in presenting medical research data in fluent English.<br />
•	Strong skills in interpreting clinical and statistical data.<br />
•	Knowledge of regulatory requirements for clinical study reports (eg, ICH, FDA).<br />
•	Experience managing medical writing deliverables from CROs or contractors.<br />
•	Good interpersonal skills; assignment requires interaction with internal and external colleagues.</p>

NYU Langone Medical Center (NYULMC) is one of the nation’s premier centers of excellence in healthcare, biomedical research and medical education. Located in the heart of New York City, the Medical Center consists of the NYU Hospitals Center including Tisch Hospital, The Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, and the Hospital for Joint Diseases, as well as the NYU School of Medicine. </p>
<p>In this highly visible role, you will contribute to and support the development and execution of strategic PR programs by highlighting key scientific and research activities. PR activities include developing media outreach strategies and pitches, fulfilling incoming media requests for experts, and serving as the key contact for select media outlets – all in support of the Medical Center’s mission and vision to be a world-class, patient-centered, integrated academic medical center. Additionally, you will interact daily with Medical Center faculty and leadership, including the Vice Dean for Research, representatives of the Office for Science and Research, Office of Clinical Trials, Office of Collaborative Science and individual scientists. The incumbent does not serve as spokesperson for the organization.</p>
<p>The qualified candidate we seek will possess a master’s degree in science (e.g. biology or chemistry); PhD preferred. Position also requires seven or more years of agency, government, non-profit or corporate communications/public relations experience translating complex scientific material for lay audiences, as well as in-depth knowledge of the PR landscape as it pertains to local and national scientific research. Existing relationships with key local/national science writers; and a proven track record of success in scientific communications are essential.</p>
