Wednesday, November 8, free for SWINY members
The Graduate Center of the City University of New York, 365 Fifth Ave (at 34th Street )
Presented by Science & the Arts http://web.gc.cuny.edu/sciart
5:45 – 6:45 – free buffet reception for SWINY members to meet Carl Djerassi, award-winning chemist and playwright (and father of the birth control pill)
7 – 8:30 – reading of selected scenes from Djerassi’s new play Phallacy followed by a talkback session with the playwright, director and producers.
Join us for an exclusive peek into selected scenes from Phallacy, which is fresh off a London-run and set to have its American premiere at the Cherry Lane Theatre in May and June of 2007. Immediately following the reading will be a talkback session with the playwright Carl Djerassi, director Elena Araoz, and producers Megan Halpern and Max Evjen of Redshift Productions. The play is about a revered classical statue and a clash of cultures; art connoisseurship vs scientific research.
