Nature Publishing Group, publisher of Nature, is pleased to announce the forthcoming launch of the community web site Nature Reports: Stem Cells, a unique portal to inform and communicate with scientists and the public about stem cell biology.
The scope of this portal will extend beyond primary research into analysis, business and policy news, tools for scientists, and online discussion forum. We are looking for an experienced science news editor who will be able to establish Nature Reports: Stem Cells as the must-read website in this field. Successful candidates must have excellent English writing skills and be able to work on their own initiative, and should have a strong track record in scientific writing, a detailed understanding of the biomedical research communities, and familiarity with business and policy issues, as well as a proven track record in meeting editorial deadlines.
Experience in developing contacts within the scientific community as well as among industry and policy makers is desirable. Knowledge of web technologies such as web streaming, pod-casting, blogs and online forums is also advantageous. Master’s or higher degree preferred, but all exceptional candidates will be considered. Applicants should send a CV (including their educational background and a brief account of their research and other relevant experience), two writing samples in Research Highlights format (350 words or less) on two recent papers in the stem cell field, and a brief cover letter enclosing relevant clips and discussing why they have chosen these particular papers to highlight, their salary expectations, and their interest in and suitability for the post.
