Job Description:

Special Editions/Projects

  • Excellent content editing, writing, proofreading, fact checking, and copyediting skills (proficiency in AMA style)
  • Assign, evaluate, and content edit physician-authored review articles for an audience of healthcare professionals
  • Ensure accuracy, general flow of content, grammar, comprehensiveness, etc.
  • Revise or rewrite manuscripts or portions of manuscripts as necessary
  • Identify appropriate therapeutic topics that have clinical relevance to readers and are commercially viable
  • Effectively communicate with thought leaders in person, on the phone, and in writing
  • Coordinate all editorial aspects of annual publication from assignment through bluelines
  • Interact with sales, copyediting, design, and production departments, as well as pharmaceutical industry clients if appropriate
  • Effectively translate dense clinical information into concise, reader-friendly formats (eg, figures, tables, wall charts)
  • Convert educational review articles into additional formats (eg, industry-sponsored pocket guides, wall charts, etc)
  • Provide suggestions to design team regarding layout and artwork
  • Meet with editorial board members annually (individually or as a group)
  • Coordinate, conduct, and report on focus panel sessions with clinicians
  • Analyze competing publications for insight into market, ideas for new features and projects, etc
  • Efficiently manage multiple projects
  • Working knowledge of Quark Xpress
  • Open to occasional domestic travel and weekend work as necessary

CME Specific

  • At least 3 years of continuing medical education experience
  • Excellent content editing, writing, proofreading, fact checking, and copyediting skills (proficiency in AMA style)
  • Assign, evaluate, and content edit comprehensive medical education manuscripts authored by freelance scientific writers or medical experts
  • Ensure accuracy, general flow of content, fair balance, grammar, etc.
  • Revise or rewrite manuscripts or portions of manuscripts as necessary
  • Effectively communicate with thought leaders in person, on the phone, and in writing
  • Experience in conducting literature searches and interpreting statistical data analyses
  • Interact with sales, CME, copyediting, design, and production departments, as well as freelance medical writers
  • Efficiently manage multiple projects
  • Conversant in ACCME standards
  • Working knowledge of Quark Xpress and PowerPoint
  • Projects include needs assessment, primary manuscripts (including monographs, pocket guides, wall charts), slide presentations, live meetings, and new media
  • Open to occasional domestic travel and weekend work as necessary
