The Journal, formerly Mount Sinai Journal of Medicine, has been re-launched with a focus on interdisciplinary biomedical topics that aim to translate research into improved medical treatment, both at the bedside and in the community.
Working under the direction of the new Editor-in-Chief, Penny Asbell, MD,FACS, MBA, Professor of Ophthalmology at Mount Sinai, the Managing Editor will have the opportunity to help reshape the journal to provide evidence-based information in a usable form for researchers, academics, clinicians and students through developing themes, organizing material for easy access, and implementing new venues for communication, such as webcams. Our readership includes MSSM alumni and over 1000 online institutions.
The successful applicant will use a range of editorial skills—from acquiring and tracking manuscripts to line- and copy-editing, working with a world-renowned medical publisher. At the same time, he/she will gain an insider’s view of cutting-edge biomedical research and the business side of medical journal publishing.
Applicants should have a background in science and writing, including editing, grant writing and peer-review publications. Skills in communication and project organization. would be especially helpful.
The position is full-time at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City and a full range of benefits including health, paid vacation etc are provided. Salary commensurate with experience.
