Reporter, Genomics Techology (PT, NYC)

Job Title:
Part-Time Reporter for Genomics Technology Newsletter, GenomeWeb LLC

Part-time, Financial District

WHO WE WANT: A motivated journalist who can quickly grasp complex scientific and technical concepts and translate them into clear, concise copy. Some business reporting experience is
preferable. You must be able to work under tight deadlines, and experience with a daily or weekly publication is desirable. Some familiarity with genetics or genomics will be helpful. This newsletter is targeted at professionals who work in the sequencing field, not a general audience, so we are seeking someone who can quickly get up to speed on the beat and start contributing in-depth, value-added content for our readers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO: Work closely with the editor of In Sequence to cover the companies and organizations that develop, sell, and use new DNA sequencing technologies. You will be speaking regularly to scientists using and developing these tools, as well as high-ranking officials at companies who manufacture and sell these systems. You will be expected to attend scientific conferences and trade shows in
this field and to develop and nurture sources in academia, government, and industry.

We are seeking a reporter who is able to work approximately 20 hours per week. Your schedule will be determined based on your availability.

WHAT WE OFFER: Flexibility, a relaxed yet competitive environment, excellent exposure, and bylines.

WHO WE ARE: GenomeWeb (www.genomeweb.com) is the largest and best-known independent publisher covering the burgeoning genomic-tool and -technology segment of biotechnology. We publish six specialty-focused newsletters, a daily online news service, a monthly magazine, and four blogs.

Interested? Please e-mail your résumé, a handful of clips, and salary expectations to Bernadette Toner at btoner@genomeweb.com. No phone calls.
