Science Writers in New York—SWINY—welcomes you to our sixth annual winter party. This year we celebrate the inventive legacy of George W. G. Ferris, the American engineer whose childhood fascination with a water wheel near his rural home inspired him to design and build one to carry people up into the air and back. He has been an MIT Inventor of the Week.

SWINY’s annual party is the perfect convivial opportunity to mix and mingle with your peers. Friend of a Farmer provides a cozy country atmosphere in the heart of Manhattan. Subway access is excellent (see below). Door prizes are part of the fun. You don’t want to miss it!

COSTS (includes all food and first beverage):

  • 2011 Paid Members: $25 in advance/$30 at the door
  • Nonmembers: $35 in advance/$40 at the door
  • Students: $15 in advance/$20 at the door

The closest subways are the N,R,Q,W, 3,4,5,6, & L trains all located just a few blocks away
at the Union Square station. The F & M stop at 14th St (use the 16th St exit, or transfer to the L to Union Square). The M 14 bus along 14th St is the closest bus line.
