Reporter, GenomeWeb (PT, NYC)

Job Title:
Reporter for Genomic Technology Newsletters, GenomeWeb LLC

Part-time, Financial District

Job Description:
GenomeWeb is looking for a part-time science or technology journalist to cover molecular diagnostics for a family of weekly trade newsletters focused on molecular biology technology platforms.

WHO WE WANT: A motivated journalist who can quickly grasp complex scientific and technical concepts and translate them into clear, concise copy. You must be able to work under tight deadlines, and experience with a daily or weekly publication is desirable. Some familiarity with biology or diagnostics will be helpful. Our subscription newsletters are targeted at professionals who work in the life science industry, not a general audience, so we are seeking someone who can quickly get up to speed and start contributing in-depth, value-added content.

WHAT YOU’LL DO: Work closely with newsletter editors to cover scientific and business news related to molecular diagnostics. You will be speaking regularly to scientists using and developing these tools, as well as officials at companies who manufacture and sell diagnostic systems. You will be expected to attend scientific conferences and trade shows in this field and to develop and nurture sources in academia, government, and industry.

We are seeking a reporter who is able to work approximately 20 hours per week. Your schedule will be determined based on your availability.

WHAT WE OFFER: Flexibility, a relaxed yet competitive environment, excellent exposure, and bylines.

WHO WE ARE: GenomeWeb (www.genomeweb.com) is the largest and best-known independent publisher covering the burgeoning genomic-tool and -technology segment of biotechnology. We publish seven specialty-focused newsletters, a daily online news service, a monthly magazine, and several blogs.

Interested? Please e-mail your résumé, a handful of clips, and salary expectations to Bernadette Toner at btoner@genomeweb.com. No phone calls.
