Job Description:
healthmonitor.com has an immediate opening for a Senior Editor based in our Paramus, NJ office. This position is responsible for developing and managing the website’s condition-specific and general health topic centers and more. Our ideal candidate will have experience planning, commissioning, editing and producing health/medical content at a consumer website.
Responsibilities
• Assign, edit and write health, wellness and medical articles and blogs
• Assign and edit health newsletters
• Work with medical experts and bloggers to produce content
• Track and monitor health news
• Generate new article and tool ideas for health centers, along with working on other digital efforts, including apps and video
• Refresh/update existing health content
• Conceive, create and maintain engaging condition-specific health centers
• Map content within centers
• Liaise with Health Monitor print magazines and guides for publishing content across platforms
• Create and maintain health center production schedules
• Incorporate best SEO practices
• Work with community and social media
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate has:
• Significant experience (6+ years) in a senior editorial role for a consumer health website or publication
• 3+ years of developing content for the web
• SEO keyword research experience
• Track record for creating addictive and engaging content in an online environment
• Experience managing and coordinating freelance contributors
• Experience with content management systems, blogs and social media tools
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• A good eye for detail and very detail-oriented
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to analyze and solve problems
• A positive attitude and openness to developing new expertise and taking on new challenges
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-based environment
• Degree or equivalent experience in English, journalism or related field required
