Job Title:
Spring 2012 Internship, Psychology Today
Part Time, New York
Job Description:
Psychology Today has an excellent opportunity for a few smart and talented editorial interns at our office in New York. We are a small staff, so you’ll be a key member of the team. Interns pitch story ideas and write short articles for the magazine. They typically receive two or three bylines per issue. Other duties include working closely with editors on story research and special projects, proofing copy, helping to manage content on our website and blog network, and occasional light clerical work.
Some journalism experience and an interest in human behavior required. Background in psychology not mandatory, but a plus. Must be able to juggle several tasks at once and work autonomously. Anyone who can carefully read a complicated study and translate it into clear and engaging prose is especially encouraged to apply.
Position runs January through May, 10-25 hours a week. Includes small daily stipend and reimbursement for commuting costs.
To apply, email a resume, cover letter, and three clips (links are
fine) to lauren.friedman@psychologytoday.com by Monday, December 5 (rolling).
