Editorial Manager, American Museum of Natural History
Full Time, Upper West Side, Manhattan
Editorial Manager will report to the Editorial Director and will be responsible for a range of editorial projects that promote the Museum’s exhibitions, programs, and scientific work online and in print.
Primary responsibilities include:
Managing the Museum’s News blog, including generating story ideas, reporting and writing 3-5 posts a week, and working with Museum contributors to conceive and edit guest blog entries; Working with ED to manage the writing, editing, and production of the Annual Report; Generating stories, reporting, and writing for the quarterly Member magazine, Rotunda; Managing the editing and production of the Museum quarterly Calendar of Events (print version) as well as its online listings; Managing the production of the quarterly floor plan and foreign-language floor plans Copy editing a variety of other Museum print and digital collateral in accordance with the Museum style guide; Contributing writing to a variety of Communications initiatives; Developing style sheets for various editorial projects; and Assisting Communications with press openings and other events.
BA degree and editorial experience required. Excellent writing and editing skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple projects and regular deadlines; knowledge of web-publishing platforms and Photoshop required. Must be detail-oriented, self-starting, and able to work collaboratively with multiple departments.
