Job Title:
Entry-level editorial position in a museum exhibition department, New York City
Part time: May through August/September 2014
Job Description:
This position is ideal for an undergraduate or recent graduate. A science background and top writing, editing and proofreading skills are required.
Here’s the job: two current exhibitions at a major museum require careful editing to reduce the interpretive labels in length. The goal is that these exhibitions will become bilingual, but bilingual language skills are not needed. This project requires basic knowledge of biology and chemistry, a flawless understanding of English grammar and punctuation, the ability to manage a small project independently, coordination with a project team and adherence to a schedule.
Good opportunity to gain experience in exhibition or science writing and to work with the editorial and graphics team at a world-class museum. Entry-level salary for 25–30 hours/week; exact schedule can be somewhat flexible. The project must be done on site in New York City. Knowledge of museums a plus.
